I feel like if Jack wants to make a connection with someone, he will try anything at least once.

He's a 20-year-old who has never had to make friends before. Cas and the Winchesters are family, thats different. Friends he has to make an effort for. (At least in his head.)

If he thinks you really enjoy something that he doesn't, he won’t want to hurt your feelings. He wants you to like him.

So even if he doesn’t enjoy something that much, he’ll try to pretend.

It’s up to you to figure that out and stop him from torturing himself.

He’s too nice, loyal to a fault.

Although, the many sceptical questions and the suspicious looks are a dead giveaway.

Like, I can see him contracting some weird cosmic-being version of the flu, being quarantined with an Angel!Reader and it being like that one episode of Malcolm in the Middle. 

Also legos. Just things that take a lot of attention to detail, something that can take his mind off of the constant pressure he is under, that you can really focus on, but that has a cool pay off at the end.

Animation as well, both watching (more 2D stuff like Batman, Invincible, Nimona)

i love think tank honestly i think he would have been better than a one-episode arch like his design? first of all is so fun. love his hover chair! love having another huge-head character (i wonder if billy knows of him at all). he such an emotive guy

he seems to really love teaching his non-interested students, and it's honestly very sweet imo how he reaches out to dean and suggests he avoid the tower during the time of his father's arch, and i mean you could interpret it as him saving his own reputation, but i think it's because he doesn't wish for dean to be harmed. and its funny and genuine to me the way he says to dean the essay is shit but he is one of the best students of the semester. ik when i went from home school to real school i struggled hard at first with writing papers, so i wonder if dean is the same like he's enjoying the class and is kind of grasping the concepts but he is plagiarizing by accident and has lots of run-on sentences (like this one). but it's sweet that nidaba still calls dean "one of the brightest" (even if you interpret this to be buttering up which i do not)

and he seems to be a moriarty without a sherlock from this little scene where he deducts dean's home life from different clues. i like that he says "i interpret the data" because that's much less wishy-washy then bbc sherlock. he's so handsome here genuinely

and his nietzsche quote "all great things must first wear terrifying and monstrous masks in order to inscribe themselves on the hearts of humanity." honestly is so relavent to the show and the way he is so exasperated no one knew that. professor dr. nidaba, i swear you just need a tumblr girlie in your class.

ahhh AHHHHH OH MY GODDDD OH MY SKELE CREW SPOILERS UNDER THE CUT AAAAAAHHHHGGH

Okay I know alot of people have been rooting for him to turn around this episode and save the kids but kind of am really enjoying the very real real Pirate vibes that Jod is giving us?? Like im kinda mad that he BEHEADED SM33 but thats mainly because I loved that character, not because I wanted Jod not to hurt anyone. Im interested to see what happens in the finale because Jude did say we will learn about his backstory, but I actually enjoyed the rather straight-forward and downright dirty decisions Jod made in the episode?

I cant lie to you guys I was rooting for my evil pirate husband to well.. do some less than good things.. you guys know one of my all time favorite characters is Maul right... i think its always really fun to have some sort of tragic villain/antagonist story and I am hoping with his backstory reveals we get to see him lean more into that :0

Obviously, with the writers talks about possible season 2 happenings, i would love it if Jod could turn himself around *enough* not not get killed and then be in season 2 if that gets greenlit!!!

I think Jude had some awesome line delivery again in this episode and I loved the little comedic moments among his evilness.

I also wanted to point out the gentle hurrying of snowball, the sort of fond look on his face when he realized the kids were coming in, and to me there was definitely somethinggg hesitant.. each time he saw them and their parents.. guys.. i dont think hes alllllllllll bad... maybe a little bit of good is buried somewhere deep

i wouldnt be opposed to a redemption arc where they try and dredge that little bit of good up :,)

also ALSO ALSO!!!!!!!!! THE KIDS performances were amazing this episode!!! Fern really stood out to me, you can tell she wants to stand up to him but he was just so clearly in complete control and it was crushing her!!!!! Okay so. Dont get me wrong, I LOVED Agatha All Along. The characters, the story, the song, the gimmicks. Literally all so awesome.

However as a comic Young Avengers enthusiast, and honestly more specifically, a Wiccan and Speed enthusiast, I have some critiques with the portrayal of Billy.

Once again!! Gonna start by saying im not here to be a comics elitest!!! I did really enjoy what they did with Billy and his struggle over his self identity. Like the amount of imposter syndrome that boy is going through is so off the charts its crazy. And while that doesn't exactly match up with comic Billy, (who was born into the Kaplans biologically while still retaining the soul Wanda created), thats okay!! I think Billy Maximoff taking someones elses body on accident its an intriguing way to approach his character.

My frustration with MCU Billy lies in how they basically just stereotyped him. Like, yes, Billy being gay is a very important part of his character. He was harassed at school for it and his powers manifested while standing up to one of his regular bullies. His relationship with and love for Teddy (aka Hulkling) drives a lot of his actions and his development as a character. But his *personality* isnt based around the fact that hes gay.

And what I mean by that is like, Agatha All Along took Billy and A) made him feminine; with the beauty vloggers, and the voice, and the slang, and n B) made him "emo" which typically i am all down for emofiying a character but in combination with the feminization feels like the a stereotype of "alternative gay teen". And thats just not who Billy Kaplan is basically??? Like Billy Kaplan is your typical boyloser-nerd and is actively masculine. Hes not *hyper* masculine by any means but hes just. some guy, you know? Hes just some guy who happens to be gay.

And characters are often a bit different from their comic book counterparts in the MCU, but the decision to make one of Marvel comics most popular canonically queer characters, (him and Teddy are almost always front and center on the covers of Marvel Pride issues), and turn him into a feminine alternative gay stereotype when thats not who he is??? It just leaves me a little disappointed.

(Extending on this a little: while his queerness should absolutely not be erased, I also think bringing it up almost every episode felt like "hey!! look at us!!! we made the gay character gay on screen isnt that crazy!!!". Going back to earlier, being gay doesnt have to be like the center of his personality he can just exist normally and happen to be gay. Idk I guess its just me wanting queerness to be treated like a normal thing but if people disagree I get it.)

Now if Teen was his own original character and not Billy I would enjoy him 10x more. I do enjoy him already!!! But he feels like a separate character. Like when a superhero title gets transferred to another person I guess. But trying to think of him as Billy skews my liking of him.

Anyways! Hope that made sense. As I said, Agatha All Along was great, I did end up warming up o MCU Billy and love the direction they went with his story, but just something that bothered me.

omg someone else notices just how awful the fandom characterises Orion for the sake of Megop THANK YOU

Thats one of the main reasons i love how to school a mech so much cause you do Orion so much justice it's honestly refreshing to see

It's always passively bothered me the way Orion is treated, but when I actually started writing Orion I think something in me realized just how bad the fandom collectively treats the poor guy, which is such a shame considering how conceptually awesome he is as a character. I know this is going to devolve into a rant since I've always wanted to vent my frustrations, so strap in lol

Something I wanted to consider when writing TFP Orion for Dissertation is the way the TFP version of him is perceived by the fandom. We honestly have almost no idea how the 'real' Orion would've acted a person, and the Orion Pax episodes are highly unreliable considering this episode makes no effort to tell it from Orion's perspective at all. It is very much framed from Megatron's perspective considering nearly all depictions of Orion we see on screen is when he is reacting to Megatron's presence.

Now, I don't doubt that Orion genuinely *wants* to believe in Megatron's truthfulness, however, our perception of Orion is still skewed in Megatron's favor. We have almost no idea what is actually going on in Orion's head during his time on the Nemesis, and I think that a lot of fans don't understand that his--dare i say--'submissive' characteristics are reflections of how Megatron sees him. We actually have no clue as to whether Orion himself is comfortable referring to him as 'lord,' especially considering the extinuating circumstances. He has no where else to go, of course he is going to play along with whatever his friend is comfortable with.

This is where I believe a lot of fanon tropes bleed into Orion's characterization, someone who is submissive and defers to Megatron, when the only time we see his character is when he is put in a stressful and outwardly biased situation. I don't believe that he acts this way AT ALL before he received the matrix, and it really limits the way we write our characters if we are only ever pulling from one skewed situation that didn't even depict a 'true' version of Orion in the first place.

I think it makes sense for him to be a little socially inept and bookish, even shy, if we take into account the way Optimus himself acts in TFP--he's intelligent but standoffish, a little hard to talk to--which would make sense if these traits stemmed from someone who spent most of his time cataloguing and recording. HOWEVER, conflating these traits into 'submissiveness' for the sake of sexualization is really really lame imo, and in Dissertation I aimed to flesh him out as a person rather than the sexy librarian that is the object of Megatron's affection.

One thing I wanted to emphasize is TFP Optimus' dry sense of humor that always seems to fall at the wayside. Even the characters in TFP tend to view Optimus as "humorless," when that is clearly not the case?? He has an awkward dry sense of humor that crops up multiple time, and I can't help but think of his many interactions with Agent Fowler where he is clearly enjoying himself and Fowler's bickering.

In Dissertation, I think Orion being a little snarky, sharp, who recognizes logical fallacies quickly and doesn't hesitate to playfully poke at the people he likes. Which is insanely funny when Orion himself walks into multiple metaphorical rakes, which is to highlight that he is smart but is socially inept himself.

I'm not the biggest Megop shipper myself, (I do really really love it in TFONE though) so maybe I am a little biased in my assertions, but I really think that early 2010's-era yaoi BL damaged Orion's perception on a fandom level. I love slash, but for me as a writer it's tiring to see Orion dumbed down to the sexy twunk trope that the older stronger man tops, and I think this is a problem that TFP suffers from the most. I get how homoerotic those two are, but that doesn't mean that tension *has* to be boiled down to done-over tropes.

(As for TF Exodus, I have not read the novel yet, but the snippets I have seen have leaned into the "shy librarian" trope, but this trait he possesses gets flanderized to hell and back by the fandom. I think I'm going to read it after Dissertation is finished so I can compare my characterization with the novel, I think that would be interesting! Just know, I am mainly referring to TFP Orion characterization here instead of the entire Aligned continuity.)

Bottom line, I love Orion and I'm glad that everyone else loves Orion. My intent was not to 'gatekeep' or tell you how to enjoy the character, I just wanted to highlight my personal frustrations with his popular depiction. I'm so glad that everyone is enjoying my Orion depiction in Dissertation though, I'm glad I've built an audience of cool likeminded people!

have i ever told you all how wild i think it is that Kai has a fandom?

like, the fact that people are consuming my writing and enjoying it and INVESTING themselves in the story?

thats so fucking amazing to me

kai as a concept started when i was around 9, when i listened to my first batim fansong, “gospel of dismay” by DAGames. i attached to the bendy character so much, i created this character that acted as his daughter like the cringe little freak i was.

around the same time, i had listened to “why did i say okie-doki?” by the stupendium, and attached to the monika character in the same way.

as i grew, kai grew with me. her story slowly became an amalgamation of fandoms i enjoyed, all set in the town of unington (which i stole from “peggy suave”, a music series uploaded to youtube by sim gretina). there wasnt really an overarching plot, some angst scattered here and there, but in my head, it was a semi-episodic series that revolved around Kai and her friends, and her adventures as ‘the savior of the multiverse’.

it wasn’t till i started writing ‘showstopper’, a bnha x oc fic, and uploading it to wattpad in 2021 before i started seeing intrigue for kai and her story.

before that, kai only existed as comics in my sketchbook that i showed to friends, or nobody at all. i was into mha, and i didn’t like the insert character’s personality in most x readers, so i decided to write my own. with kai.

people loved kai. i had consistent readers, commenters, and as of now, it sits at 7.5K reads. people felt for her, kinned her, and slandered any characters who didn’t like her.

eventually, my interests faded. and showstopper remains unfinished.

other than showstopper, Kai still didn’t really have a bunch of deep lore. she still was her little fandom amalgam, with her bits of angst.

but that all changed when Hatchetfield came into the mix.

in mid 2023, early 2024, @local-soda-can (and @chillibeanos somewhat) introduced me to the starkid original musical, ‘the guy who didn’t like musicals’. they loved it, and so did chilli, as they had been doing some oc insert stuff with it (btw, go check them out, their character Bean Sprout is so awesome!,).

I, however, wasnt too keen on watching.

I’m a very hard person to get to watch anything with an hour+ runtime. longer time commitments spook me, and with TGWDLM being over an hour, i wasn’t planning on watching.

until we had a sleepover, and i did.

and i fell in LOVE.

immediately, i had me and fizz start rping through The ‘Kai’ Who Didn’t Like Musicals, as i dubbed it.

the rp finished on September 14, 2023 and that was that.

that was all TKWDLM was supposed to be.

that was all Kai In Hatchetfield was supposed to be.

a series of RPs with a friend.

that was, until, one fateful wednesday, September 20th, 2023, i was watching TGWDLM after school.

earlier, i had the RTC script printed out to read, and i had thought: ‘man. i wish i had the script for this show.’

and then i thought, ‘wait, i have a laptop! what if i just typed out/downloaded the script?’

and as i sat there, on my laptop, i had another thought.

‘Wait, i have the rp, that’s practically all in script format, it has almost all the parts, what if i just turned it into an actual script?’

and thus began a two month long journey of transcribing the musical/rp into a script.

when i uploaded TKWDLM to tumblr on November 27 of that year, i honestly wasn’t expecting people to actually read it.

of course, i had hoped people would!

but honestly, she was 130 pages, she was kinda cringe, and she was honestly just meant for me.

I did NOT expect fans.

I did not expect people like @androgynous-sack-of-flesh-3 (hi there!) to go through my blog, scrounging for every last drop of Kai I made

I did not expect people to invest themselves into Kai’s story, and cry at her death during the ending.

Most of all, I did not expect people wanting more.

The Kai in Hatchetfield series was supposed to end at TKWDLM. I wasn’t planning on transcribing the nmt rps I did with my friends. I wasn’t planning on doing more scripts.

Until one anon in my inbox made the brilliant pun:

‘Nightmare Kai-me.’

With that post, I uploaded a poll asking if people wanted to see an actual NMK series.

And to my surprise, people did.

And thus, I started writing.

And that was a catalyst.

From there, I have gained so many followers, so many fans, all wanting more of Kai.

I have people like @raspberrysmoon (hi pooks :3) theorizing about the overarching lore of nmk, and even writing their own fanfic series revolving Kai (shoutout to sotbaw!).

I have people invested.

I have people who want more.

And that is so shocking to me.

I never expected my silly little story to reach so many people.

I never expected people to be touched by it.

I never expected to make people feel.

And, honestly?

I can’t help but say thank you.

You all are the reason I keep writing.

You all are the reason I keep publishing Kai’s story.

Without you, there would be no nmk. There would be nothing more than a script sitting in my google docs, one that I’d eventually forget about.

All I can say is thank you.

Thank you for giving me a space to share my writing.

Thank you for giving Kai a chance.

so the mutant mayhem series...

look im happy to get another show and im open to watching it and i will give it a chance.

but some stuff in the trailers really rubs me the wrong way.

april saying "isnt your whole thing a costume" in reference to ...just their bodies is icky and im dissapointed her kinda being mean to them is gonna continue. like- its not an initial shock thing like with 2003 and 2012 april its just "sure we're friends but im gonna call out how different you are even though your WHOLE goal is to fit in and be accepted.". i like her design and her story seems interesting and i hope she gets a real arc unlike a lot of aprils but like- the comments are un-necessary and it feels like shes making fun of them instead of being a supportive friend. [if theres an episode where the guys get fed up and talk to her, possibly having a lesson about expressing to your friends when youre uncomfortable with what they do then ill be overjoyed because that message NEEDS to be in kids shows and it would clarify april just didnt know it bothered them and would tone it down because she doesnt wanna hurt her friends]

in a trailer the others got praise and when it was mikeys turn someone was like "oh what do you do?" and mikey doesnt have a real answer. as a mikey fan i just cannot stand the constant dismissal he gets. if the series is gonna expand on that and take it seriously im totally in though.

i didnt mind the movie artstyle. its not something i enjoy and it kinda gave me a headache in theaters but objectivly there is nothing weong with it and a lot of work and talent was put into it. the show style is...ehhh? i dont like it. i dont hate it. i dont really enjoy the color palette. its not appealing to me and an art style can really change how much i enjoy a show.

and why does leo sound so much older. i cant be the only one hearing that right? like i know thats fairly standard for the shows but the movie had all this hype about the guys sounding and acting their age so???

and structure wise i feel like this is going to feel more like kim possible and spiderman instead of tmnt? cause like ...a HUGE part has always been theyre a secret and they work in the shadows cause theyre ninjas and now theyre just in the open. im ok with change- all franchizes NEED to change and adapt but im not gonna get hopeful till i see it done well int he actual show

speaking of that this is a reminder i by no means think the show will be bad. i want it to be awesome and fun and make its mark like other tmnt shows and films have! i just had to get this off my chest cause it was bothering me. im sure the show WILL be good cause i havent watched a tmnt show i outright disliked yet. the trailers just rubbed me the wrong way.

SPOILERS FOR THE NEW SMG4 MOVIE PUZZLEVISION

i come back and rise from my grave one more time to give my opinion on the movie.

This movie was great! I had a lot of fun watching it with @gaiaonthemoon and it did leave me surprised and delighted at what i was watching djfhjf

however, i cant help but feel like this is not the vibe i expected to get when watching the livestream.

And. It did leave more questions than answers on Mr Puzzles.

I will say this: i dont think its over, and i think hes gonna make a comeback. Not like, right away obv, but soon enough i think.

Anyways, now to list the things i really enjoyed-

Meggy and SMG4 being sided and praised by him for their "character acting" during Western Spaghetti and IGBP WAS AWESOME AND REALLY WELL DONE- AND WISHED WE GOT MORE OF THAT (i expected Mr Puzzles to like. put them all in a situation resembling the previous movies given what we got on the poster- but whatever)

Also Mario and Luigi shining in their own way god BLESS THESE ITALIAN PLUMBERS-

also the MF TITANIC SCENE WITH 3 AND 4 MADE ME AND GAIA GO INSANE.

SHE SAID "NICHE NICHE LOOK YOUR PIRATE AU-" AND I FUCKING SCREAMED until i noticed the boat type and went "oh no its the titanic-" and then WE SCREAMED AGAIN BECAUSE HOLY FUCK 3 AND 4 ON THE TITANIC- XD

Aside from that silliness- we also both agreed that Mr Puzzles was a pathetic bitch man the whole movie lmao- but heres the thing: i dont think thats all there is to him- and i dont think hes defeated completely.

He can rebuild himself. And the way this finale for the movie felt it was a bit too easy to get rid of him. I bet hes coming back, cuz you dont get to build up a character like this for over a year and then end it with only five episodes of screentime.

So yeah, it aint over.
